Hi! I’m David Diamond but around here I answer to Dave, Mr. Diamond, Mr. David, and occasionally “Hey teacher!” Whatever the kids feel like calling me works just fine. I’m the Site Director for KidTime at Farragut Primary School, where I help oversee the day-to-day fun that comes with running an after-school program. My goal is to make sure our students have a safe, engaging, and positive place to learn, play, and grow after the school day ends.
I have a Master’s degree in Business and am currently finishing my Master’s in Education while working toward my Tennessee teaching license. I’ve been working with schools and kids for more than 15 years, including several years as a long-term substitute teacher before moving to beautiful Tennessee. Since arriving here, I’ve also had the opportunity to substitute teach in Roane County and work with local school districts.
Over the years, I’ve been involved with several PTA and PTO organizations, sometimes even ending up in leadership roles like President and Parliamentarian (which mostly means helping keep meetings organized and making sure everyone gets heard). Those experiences have given me a strong appreciation for how important the partnership between schools and families really is.
At home, I’m a husband and dad with two kids of my own. My youngest is now in high school, which means I’ve experienced just about every stage of childhood from the parent side as well. And yes… I’m still learning every day (teenagers will do that to you).
Between being a parent and working in schools, I truly believe every child is unique and full of potential. My goal at KidTime is simple: create a place where kids feel safe, supported, and excited to come back the next day.
Fun facts about me:
– I can usually be found playing games with the kids (and sometimes losing. NEVER LOL).
– I firmly believe recess should exist for adults too.
– I’ve learned that if a room suddenly gets very quiet… something interesting is about to happen.
